In Aymara, “janq’uuta” means “white house”. The village is located northeast of Guallatire, within the National Reserve Las Vicuñas.
Ancuta only consists of 5 houses. It has a small chapel surrounded by a wall, like all towns in the Andean Altiplano. The main part of the village is covered by a round farming building for the lamas and alpacas which graze on the surrounding bofedal alongside the river.
