About 10km west of the village of Putre and at an altitude of 4.000m above sea level, you can find the Hot Springs of Jurasi. They are located on the Northeastern flanks of the Jurasi canyon, easily accessible via a 3km side road to the route CH-11 (Arica – Tambo Quemado).
This natural well of volcanic thermal waters divides into different pools between 40° and 50°C. One is a natural open air pool, another one is made out of concrete. Also, there are mud ponds that are said to help with rheumatic issues due to their high concentration of minerals.
A legends tells the story of an Inca Princess who used to take baths in the Hot Springs of Jurasi, and the power of the thermal water stopped her from aging. The springs have developed into a touristic attraction and can be visited on authorized guided tours. Its recommended to access the site with an all-terrain vehicle.
As of today, there are two swimming pools and three mud ponds, which are especially appealing to anyone who looks for relaxation and health treatment.
